Aldona is rarely without a dog at her side. Whether it’s working with clients, volunteering, or spending time with her own two mutts, Twiggy and Lux, she is most happy when in canine company.

She first started volunteering with dogs in 1998 at San Francisco Animal Care and Control and the San Francisco SPCA as a dog walker. This proved to be a great learning opportunity exposing her to various dog breeds and handling of special needs dogs requiring extra love. It is here that she met her dog Twiggy, a terrier mix that started out as a scared puppy with a leg injury and is now a happy senior who can still outrun most dogs at the park. She adopted her second dog Lux, a charming spaniel mix, from the Yakima Humane Society.

Aldona’s dog handling and communication philosophy is based on the positive reinforcement method. Positive reinforcement dog training is a friendly, non-punitive method of teaching your dog to perform behaviors using treats or other positive actions as a reward. Rewarding appropriate dog behavior makes that behavior more likely to occur in the future and is one of the most powerful tools you can use to shape or change your dog’s actions.

Aldona lives in the Leschi area and has happily been a part of the community for the last 7 years. She believes in supporting local businesses and loves meeting her neighbors through her work.  While in her care, your dog will always be treated as a member of the family.
